Self-Massage Technique
You needn't purchase any tools. Allow me to share a wide range of self-massage techniques to release tension in the body and invite relaxation. It's easy and fun!
Desk Jockey Stretches
Let's unfold our bodies! Prepare to stretch, massage and open tight spots after too many hours tethered to devices. Your body will thank you, your mind will be free again after you release physical tensions. Gather any and all items from around the house for your self-care toolkit:
Foam roller
Yoga block
Massage rollbar
Various sized balls for specific massage: tennis, lacrosse, softball, even dog toys will work!
If you have 2 tennis balls, have them ready and find a stray sock to create your new best massage tool to loosen the muscles between your shoulder blades.
Beginner Massage Technique
Enjoy a rewarding session exploring simple massage techniques. Learn the benefits of giving and receiving relaxing, nurturing, therapeutic massage. Discover quick-release techniques for common trigger points. The material in this workshop will include lecture and hands-on of the following:
*building trust with your partner
*insight into how to "listen" with your hands
*endangerment sites to avoid in the body
*overview of common pain patterns
*pressure points to release chronic pain
*healthy body mechanics while giving massage
*pain vs. productive pain
As you will be clothed during this class, wear loose-fitting, comfortable apparel in which to work and receive techniques with free movement. This class is not recommended during pregnancy, nor with recent or acute injuries, or herniation.
Yin Yoga
As with the teachings of the five elements and as with the ideology of yin and yang used in Chinese medicine, Yin yoga promotes energetic clearing of blockages and increases circulation. Explore the polarities of a whole. One cannot live without the other: soft and hard, cold and warm, feminine and masculine, dark and light, all which bring us into a balanced being. Let's go deep. With an emphasis on meditation and breathing, these postures are held in a passive practice. You are encouraged to wear comfortable layers to encourage relaxation.
Journaling & Meditation
Open up space and create flow in your body to unharness your spirit, and unlock the mind. Writing can help you
to process information and communicate effectively. Putting your thoughts on paper eases decision-making and can lend a fresh perspective. Journaling acts like a counselor, lending fresh perspective. Journaling can help interpret dreams. Reveal and release tension in the body that correlates with thought patterns. This powerful combination liberates the spirit, opens layers of consciousness, and unlocks tensions in the body. All levels of experience are welcome.
